Okay, so we know to use the database/sql package to construct our SQL statements, and we saw an example of how to do this, but we still have one thing to cover - how to get the ID of a newly created record. How do I Retrieve the ID of new records with Postgres and Go? It will save you a lot of headaches down the road, I promise. So the short version of this story is *always use the database/sql package to construct SQL statements and insert values into them**. This likely won’t return any users, but more importantly it wouldn’t delete all of your data! eg fmt.Println("\"hi\", said the man") would output "hi", said the man, and ''' DROP TABLE users ''' is treated like the string ' DROP TABLE users ' in SQL, so rather than executing the dangerous DROP TABLE users command, this statement would search for a user with the email address ' DROP TABLE users '. It would be the equivalent to putting a backslash before a quote in Go. While this might look very similar, there is one very significant difference - the single quotes in the email address are doubled up, which is how you escape a single quote character in SQL. SELECT * FROM users WHERE email = ''' DROP TABLE users ''' Rather than executing the dangerous SQL above, the database/sql package would instead execute something like the SQL below. This is easier to understand with an example, so let’s go back to the previous example where we want to search for a user using an email address. The database/sql package is aware of all special SQL characters, so when you try to insert a string with a single quote ( ') into a statement being constructed by the database/sql package it will escape the special characters and prevent any nefarious SQL statements from ever being executed. Unfortunately, this is probably one of the most common ways that “hackers” will attempt to attack your website, and while some SQL injection attacks can be used to gain data, a large chunk of them will simply destroy a large portion of your data, leaving you with an empty database and a lot of explaining to do to your users.īy using the database/sql package to create our SQL statements, we get a free layer of protection against this. This is called SQL injection, and it happens when you let users input data that needs to be used in SQL statements and you don’t escape any special characters, like the single quote ( ') character. Now this might not look so bad at first, but if you take a closer look this statement doesn’t just look for a user, but it also adds an extra SQL statement to the end that drops the entire users table! Yikes! That would mean you would lose ALL of your user data if this were executed. SELECT * FROM users WHERE email = '' DROP TABLE users ''

It was not until my 5th speed test that it completed without error giving me an acceptable ~240mb both ways. I made sure it was up to date and gave it a reboot. I attempted to go to another website and in less than 5 minutes of use it had done the silent fail just like the 2017 unit does. I load a public website and it quickly loaded. I let it rest for a few minutes (regular sleep settings are not a factor here). I connected to WiFi and loaded a local static site to check connectivity. It didn't take 10 seconds for the keyboard to draw and it felt responsive enough so I was kinda excited. One setting of interest was some suspend option. I heard great things about the 2021 model so I picked one up last week and I read all about it and looked at every config option closely before I even connected to WiFi. It usually reconnects but sometimes it silently dies and you have to toggle wifi. I have a 2017 and it will not keep a connection for more than a minute or two. I scanned through and I didn't see anyone mention WiFi issues. A subreddit for Amazon Fire tablets Can you leave an inflatable hot tub out in winter?īefore thoroughly researching various inflatable spa brands and styles, I had assumed all hot tubs were suitable for cold and/or freezing temperatures. Not only are the inflatable options a small fraction of the costs of traditional spas (I got mine for less than $450), if hot water therapy isn’t needed in warmer months, I can always drain the inflatable tub and store it away until next winter- allowing for more floor space and less clutter on my covered porch when not in use. This is when the idea of a portable hot tub really started to appeal to me. Īdding to my reluctance of traditional hot tubs, I was not entirely convinced that one would get much use during the summer months as summers here in southeast Tennessee can be miserably oppressive. You see…in order to get a solid jet spa into my screened-in-porch, I would need to pay a contractor to knock down a support beam on the back wall of my enclosed porch to allow adequate clearance for a conventional hot tub. Not only was I not ready to invest thousands upon thousands of dollars into a hard shell spa, I was not exactly keen on having to deal with a major remodeling project. While a traditional hot tub was initially the first idea that came to mind, after researching costs, I quickly determined that option to be a hell no (at least for the time being). Wanting to create staycation vibes here in the screened-in-porch of my lake cottage, I knew as soon as I laid eyes on this covered outdoor space, that I wanted a hot tub. In the dead of winter, while a fire is most certainly nice, there is just nothing like a relaxing dip in a hot tub to warm aching bones and soothe sore muscles. In today’s post, I am sharing the best inflatable hot tub I have found for cold climates along with my unbiased review of the Coleman SaluSpa Tahiti Inflatable Hot Tub. Given not all inflatable hot tubs are suitable for cold weather use, if you are considering a portable spa for the winter months, it is important you do proper research before making your purchase. is incorporated in Arizona as a tax-exempt entirely funded by charitable donations. I can manually rename the photo and it will save. I get the error: 'Photos have read-only access'. After the move, some photos do not allow me to save the file (i.e. I moved a directory of photos from the MBP to the NAS using Finder, then relocated the folder in Lightroom. I'm trying to now move more of my files over, and encountering similar issues. Sometimes I wasn't able to create a new folder or remove a folder. I haven't made significant use of my NAS for file storage, and one reason is that I would intermittently encounter issues where it would *sometimes* not let me rename files or save files that were stored on the QNAP and the modified. I'm connecting to it with a 2013 MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.10.5. So the above can now be used as a solution how to configure your Mac computer and a QNAP NAS using ethernet.I have a QNAP TS-653pro running the latest build of QTS4.2.0. Maybe like me unplug the Ethernet cable and plug in again - after about 2 minutes it magically worked. Then you need some patience - because Qfinder keeps for a while reporting the old wrong IP adresss. So I configured ETH2 to 192.168.2.101 and savedĪbove the IP settings for ETH1 and ETH2 I set the Standart Gateway to EtH2 (cause theres the cable plugged in) now and press save button. I then go to Configuration and enter a static IPĭNS Server: set to automatically fetch from networkĪnd as Qfinder didn't change the "found NAS" IP after I reconfigured it - I found out that in Settings I changed ETH1 only - but Qfinder reports ETH2. Now Qfinder "finds" my NAS and reports it with IP Address 169.254.100.100 Can the cable reach the Huawei router instead of the Mac? There may be other, better ways to design your home network. Features that need that won't work, but you should be able to use the web interface and the file shares from your Mac.Īlso note that this is advice for finishing what you have already started - no more, no less. Note that in this setup the NAS won't have any internet access. Now you are done and should be able to log in at. At that point, you should be able to run QFinder and discover the NAS, but the IP address of the NAS will still be generally invalid - go ahead and use the QFinder to set it to 192.168.2.11. You should enter the same 255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask, but leave the default gateway (and generally any other settings) blank. You could choose 192.168.2.10 for the Mac and configure it. In this example, you could choose 192.168.2.x and make up two addresses. Let's say you also get 192.168.1.x and the same subnet mask, which are common (but not to be taken for granted) router defaults. Their examples show what it would look like with an IP address of 192.168.1.112 and the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Start with #3, to determine what not to choose: you can use the instructions here for finding your internal address. The addresses need to 1)follow some rules about the address ranges you should use 2)be on the same subnet 3)not conflict with the address range used by your wifi router that the Mac is connecting to. Sounds like you attempted something along those lines, but didn't pick suitable values. This can work, but you need to configure both the Mac's ethernet interface and the NAS with static IP addresses. The network consists of the Mac and the NAS, both of which are trying to be DHCP clients, without an available DHCP server. The problem is that right now, as you have described things, there is no DHCP service on your ethernet network. I played around an set it to 111.111.111.111 as IP address.įunny thing is now from time to time Qfinder sees my NAS with IP 169.254.100.100 - and I can change its Network configuration via Qfinder.īut sometimes I cant connect because when I enter my password I get the error "receiving answer from server failed" I set the Mac system preferences for networking to use DHCP with manual address on the Ethernet port. We also learn more about Aarfy's character. His philosophy is simple: Live and prosper and don't give a damn about principles. Nately's innocent devotion is sincere and in some ways admirable, but the licentious old man seems to win the argument. "And anything worth dying for," responds the sacrilegious old man, "is certainly worth living for." Nately counters that it's better to die on one's feet than live on one's knee the old man answers that it is better to live on one's feet. Anything worth living for, says Nately, is worth dying for. Nately is furious with the old man's cynicism but can offer only clichés in response. It was he, we learn, who hit Major _ de Coverley in the eye with a red rose as the Americans entered the city. The old man has welcomed the Italian Fascists, the German Nazis and now the Allies into Rome. "And Italy will win it." Italy already is doing better than the United States, the old man argues, because her soldiers are defeated and thus no longer dying. He argues that dying for one's country is a foolish enterprise. He is convinced that he is in love with a prostitute who is particularly callous except when it comes to her twelve-year-old sister, who is not yet in the profession. Nately is a sincere, innocent, thoughtful young man who has been raised with all the advantages except street smarts. One of the best known is the one between Nately and the old man at the brothel in Rome. Heller uses several debates in the novel to reveal character or to consider values. His deals with the Germans complicate life for the squadron and nearly ruin the syndicate. He marks out the swastikas and stencils in "M & M Enterprises, Fine Fruits and Produce." The "M & M" stands for Milo Minderbinder, of course but he thinks that initials make the syndicate look more widely controlled. On a typical day, he flies to England to pick up a load of Turkish halvah and returns by way of Madagascar with four Nazi bombers filled with fresh vegetables. Meanwhile, Milo's syndicate has become increasingly international. Nately and the old man discuss the nature of war and the meaning of life. Nately spends a great deal of money on the prostitute, eventually winding up at a tenement brothel with her, some of his friends, a "proliferating flow of supple young naked girls" and an "evil and debauched ugly old man" who seems to be in charge. For her part, the young woman is, at this point in the novel, indifferent toward her suitor and interested only in her profession. Lieutenant Nately is an ingenuous nineteen-year-old, from a privileged background, who is in love with a Roman prostitute whom he hopes to marry.
